Turlock Fruit Company ships under the King O’ The West, Sycamore, Regal Oak, and Peacock brands. We market melons throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, Mexico, Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. We Also Market organic honeydews and cantaloupes under the Regal Oak and Peacock label and use the same quality standards as our conventionally grown melons.

Cantaloupe

This sweet melon has a slightly oval shape and a rough texture, called netting. They have a tender orange flesh and very sweet flavor. To find a ripe cantaloupe, look for a straw-color under the netting. There should also be no stem left in the stem socket, this is called a full slip.

Ripeness

If the melon gives under slight pressure, and gives off a sugary aroma, the melon is ripe and ready to eat.

Cleaning

Melons are grown on the ground, so the outside should be cleaned before cutting. Run cool water over the melon before eating to remove any surface dirt that may remain.

Storage

Our melons are picked vine-ripened so they should immediately be stored in a refrigerator. Cover cut melons with plastic and store no more than three days.
